Our Story

Jesus Solis

Principal Engineer, Founder

In every facet of my career, I have had the great privilege to meet and work with some of the best and most talented professionals in the AV industry. Each has made an impression on me and shaped my path. One of my first exposures to the audio industry was working at the recording studio office while studying Music Production & Engineering at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Among my many responsibilities at the studio, I assisted other engineering students with questions regarding the setup and operation of mixing consoles, Protools, and other audio equipment. Troubleshooting in the studio and finding solutions became a part of my everyday work. This is where I began to lay the groundwork for the rest of my career.

After graduation, I started my dream job working as an Entertainment Technician at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Working at Disney parks is exciting for any engineer because you have the unique opportunity to use a wide range of products from every brand that you can imagine. Not only do you have access to all of this equipment, but you also get to use it in new and creative ways that only can be found in themed entertainment. While working at WDW, I had the opportunity to work and learn from incredibly talented and creative audio, video, lighting, and control teams. As a result of my diverse roles within the park, I acquired a broad range of skills. I began as an audio engineer for conventions and special events, eventually moving into the position of Park Audio Crew Chief for Epcot, Downtown Disney, and ESPN Wide World of Sports. As the Park Audio Crew Chief, I was responsible for equipment purchases, obsolescence replacement planning, and maintaining audio systems around the park. Some of my most fond memories are working on projects with our audio technician team and integrators, pulling cable, building systems, programming hardware, and managing multiple projects. There is nothing better than working with your friends daily; I can assure you that!

With my growing interest in show control, I was thrilled to take a position working alongside Creative Entertainment and Disney Imagineers. We managed attraction refurbishments and new builds in the parks and cruise ships. I am proud to have worked with this team in Germany to deliver the new build of the Disney Fantasy and in Spain for the refurbishment of the Disney Magic for Disney Cruise Lines. Words can’t describe how fortunate I feel to have the chance to work on these fantastic projects and learn from the best of the best. I built memories and friendships that can never be replaced.

Taking these experiences with me, I advanced in my career as I became a Support and Sales Engineer with Alcorn McBride, a hardware and software manufacturer that specializes in audio, video, lighting, and show control for themed entertainment. If you work in themed entertainment, I can assure you that you will find at least one Alcorn McBride product in your equipment room, but I wouldn’t be surprised if AMI products run your entire attraction. What makes Alcorn McBride special is not only their rock-solid equipment but also the funny, intelligent, and all-around great people that make up the company. If you are at an industry event or trade show, do yourself a favor and meet with them. I guarantee you will have a good time! Having been on the other side of the table in my previous positions, I understood what was at stake for our customers on every project, and I made it my mission to ensure that they were always taken care of.  My time at Alcorn Mcbride allowed me to work alongside my friends from Disney but also gave me the chance to build new friendships with engineers from countless other theme parks, museums, and manufacturers.

I believe that the passionate professionals in our industry work all hours of the day and night to create new and compelling experiences that will leave visitors in awe. I started Theme Park AV because I remember what it feels like to be a wonderstruck child, totally captivated by theme park attractions, and I want to continue to be a part of that. I know that it takes an epic team of talent to create an attraction, and I hope that Theme Park AV can be there to help you and your team develop the next spectacular experience.
